Festival "Financial literacy" in Dushanbe

On May 1, 2026, at the initiative of the National Bank of Tajikistan, the Executive Authority of the city of Dushanbe, and in cooperation with financial credit institutions, insurance organizations, and development partners, the “Financial Literacy” festival was held in Dushanbe. The first part of the festival was held in the hall of the State Institution “Odina Hoshim Children’s Art School.”

In his speech, the Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, Firdavs Tolibzoda, noted that improving the financial literacy of the population is one of the key factors for the development of the banking system, ensuring its stability, and strengthening public trust in the financial system. The purpose of the festival is to expand public access to financial and insurance services, present the services of financial credit institutions, and thereby enhance the financial literacy of the population. In this direction, the National Bank of Tajikistan, as the regulator of the financial market, is implementing necessary measures with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, ministries and agencies, and development partners.

It was noted that from 2022 to the present, “Financial Literacy” festivals have been held in 31 cities and districts across the country, reaching more than 72,000 participants. In addition, since 2023, financial credit institutions have organized more than 5,600 educational events nationwide, involving over 330,000 participants, including students of secondary, vocational, and higher education institutions, employees of public and private organizations, women, and labor migrants.

Furthermore, information platforms, including the website fingram.tj and dedicated social media pages, have been actively providing educational materials to enhance financial knowledge among the population. The development of digital financial services and the expansion of cashless payments in the country have also contributed to improving financial culture. In this context, the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan has adopted the “Program for Improving Financial Literacy of the Population for 2026–2030,” and its implementation is being carried out with the involvement of all relevant institutions and development partners.

During the event, the Deputy Chairman of Dushanbe, Mehriddin Tohirzoda, emphasized the importance of financial education and the need to enhance financial awareness in modern times. It was noted that such events create favorable conditions for sharing experiences, exchanging ideas, familiarizing participants with new financial products, and strengthening financial literacy.

The event continued with presentations by Rukmina Safarzoda, Deputy Head of the State Savings Bank “Amonatbonk”; Iqbol Boboev, Head of the Entrepreneurship Support Department of the State Committee on Investment and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan; Umarjon Umarov, Head of the Corporate Business Block of Eskhata Bank; and Behruz Izatulloev, Head of the Inspection Department of the Financial Monitoring Department under the National Bank of Tajikistan. They delivered presentations on “Access to Loans for Business Development in the Regions,” “State Support for Women’s Entrepreneurship,” “Green Loans,” and “Prevention of Fraud.”

As part of the festival program, an award ceremony for the competition “Best Financial Credit Institution in Providing Non-Banking Services to Women Entrepreneurs” was also held. It was noted that the competition contributes to supporting women’s entrepreneurship, promoting financial services among businesses and the population—especially women entrepreneurs—and improving their access to financial and non-financial services.

In this competition, Arvand Bank took first place, FINCA Microcredit Organization took second place, and Sanoatsodirotbank and the Investment and Credit Bank of Tajikistan shared third place.

At the same time, Amonatbonk, Iman International Bank, Eskhata Bank, and Humo Bank were awarded certificates of appreciation for their active participation. Additionally, five successful women entrepreneurs—Muqaddas Sultonova, Nargis Shermatova, Nigina Ikromi, Istamoy Madalieva, and Gulbonu Navruzova—were honored with commemorative gifts from the National Bank of Tajikistan.

The second part of the festival continued throughout the day in the “Kurushi Kabir” park, featuring exhibitions and a fair of financial and insurance services, where financial credit institutions presented their products and services to participants.

The festival concluded with cultural and entertainment programs, financial quizzes, and performances by well-known Tajik artists, creating a festive and memorable atmosphere.
